Jennifer Scott Geldard

I can’t remember a time in my life when I wasnt creating. My earliest memories often involve a crayon firmly grasped in my hand. Since then, there have been many tools in that hand; glass, painbrush, pencil, sewing needle, and clay modeling tools.

My work leans toward the whimsical and light-hearted. If it makes me smile, I’m there. Soft color and a bit of an ethereal mood can sneak in when I work in encaustics. My encaustic technique involves printing my watercolor paintings onto silk and layering the silk between layers of wax.

Birds are a frequent visitor to my work. I wish I could come up with some sort of profound artistic symbology to explain this avian obsession of mine, but the simple truth is, I like them. They make me happy; I hope my work does the same for you.

I live in New England with my husband John, and son Max.
